Deny Everything reboots on Monday!

by Joel on 30 juni, 2011

I just wanted to make a quick announcement that I’ll be re-booting the blog on monday. Here are some under the hood changes I have made during the hiatus besides writing posts and laying out in the sun:

  • Re-configured the custom google search box. Its now connected to my adsense and google analytics accounts (hence making me earn some bucks if people google through it).
  • Added a mail notification box in my comments section (thanks Dylan), I can’t believe I haven’t used this funtion earlier, its brilliant. Especially when commenting on other blogs.
  • I have finally found a great social media sharing widget Digg Digg (thanks Castor). Check it out floating to the left when you are ”inside” a post.
  • Updated the contact form, I went back to Contact Form 7  since my previous form was a try-out version that would start to cost. Unfortunately there is something wrong with my settings because it doesn’t give a confirmation that the message was sent. However, it does work but I’d like to fix it so it works properly.

Design- and enginewise I’ll keep tweaking the blog on a regular basis and I’d appreciate feedback on whats working or not. Besides the comment form I need feedback on color schemes mostly because I’m thinking of going black after seeing Fiffi’s nice convert from blogspot to wordpress (she’s using the same theme, Thesis as I do).

Other than that I encourage you to vote in the poll to the right and check in here tomorrow for a guest piece plug.

Film Quickie: Friday the 13th Part III is hillarious (I saw it for the first time yesterday), I can totally see how Wes Craven/Kevin Williamson got some inspiration for Scream in this one.

I’m pretty sure you don’t need two Twitter and two Facebook buttons ;) Looking forward to the reboot!

Easy now with the expectations. I wont unleash a horde of posts just because I’m adding the schedule. :-)

One recommendation from me would be the WPTOUCH plug in.

I logged in through my phone and found the site a wee bit hard to read. Just a thought Joel.

Not seeing this Digg widget – where is it?

You should never have to pay for a Contact form. I used JotForm for the one on the LAMB and have thought it great (used them for the Application on the LAMB, too, which I had always wanted but never thought possible without hardcore coding and/or money – not so!). Anyway, you can receive up to 100 (if I recall correctly) submissions from your form per month for free, which should never really be an issue since hardly anyone uses them anyhow.

Related: can you remove the comments from your Contact Form page? Seems weird to have them there.

Glad you’re liking the mail notifications – they’re a life saver and you should see improved comments here over time as a result, too,

Looking forward to it all!

Thanks for great advice as usual. Sorry for the late response I’m on mini vacay at my sister in laws in south of Sweden.

Digg Digg is supposed to be floating to the left of the post when you are inside the permalink of a post. I’ll test JotForm and hopefully it will work better than the temporary one I have now.

Regarding mail notifications its a great tool but when used on comment heavy sites (Anomalous Material) it almost gets spammy. I’ll get a separate mailadress for this kind of communication.
