Houdini’s Magic Ticket Blogathon

by Joel on 24 oktober, 2011

Dan over at top10films is hosting a funny blogathon were you get a bunch of magic cinema tickets. I decided to piggy back on it. Here are my choices.

What character would I most like to be sat next to on a plane…

What character would I most want to enjoy a passionate romance with?

If I were a cop who would I want as my partner?

What animated feature would I love to walk (swim) around in?

What adventure based on earth would I most like to go on?

What adventure based in an otherworldly, fantasy-based location would I most like to go on?

What movie gadget would I love to try out (or steal)?

What film’s plot would I alter and how would I do it?

Its so f*cking boring that I’d kill of Bill Murray’s character so it would become a murder mystery.

What one film would I most want to be transported into, simply to be a part of that world?

This last one would be somewhat nightmarish to live in but I like the general universe in the film so why not!

Thanks to Dan for coming up with this cool idea for a blogathon! I’ll throw out a challenge to my Swedish blog colleagues to do it as well! Post your links in the comments!

Some very clever and stunning answers, Joel! Yeah, I’ll likely give this meme a whirl. Thanks.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Ahah, your answer on Lost in Translation made me laugh, Joel! I quite like it but I know some people find it very boring.

Btw, how in the world are you gonna steal Wolverine’s claws?? Those would have to be surgically added into your body! Ah well, it’s called fantasy for a reason, right? :D

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 24, 2011 kl. 10:23

I’m definitively a Lost in translation hater… hahaha

When it comes to Wolverine I actually have psoriasis and its kind of similar to his regeneration gene. I have heard that the psoriasis rash actually comes from to fast skin regeneration. It wouldn’t be the nicest surgery I have had though. =)

I agree with you on Lost in Translation and think that would make for a fun twist! hahaha.

Great job here!

Thanks its awesome to hear I’m not alone not being totally sucked up by the Lost in Translation hype…

Jessica oktober 25, 2011 kl. 06:45

Lost in Translation is my number one movie… *cry*
(but I know it’s not for everyone.)

I’d totally love to swim in the world of Nemo.

Not sure about having Zeb on the plane. I suspect he’d smell…

Tbh I don’t recognize every pic you’ve posted here. I wouldn’t mind if you had a reference in the text as well.

Joel Burman oktober 25, 2011 kl. 06:56

Lost in Translation seem to be a divider. Either people are with me on the murder plot or they want it to be untouched.

You have a good point about Zeb but I still think he could kill A LOT of hours with his trapper stories. =)

Here’s the captions
1. Zebulon Macahan
2. Sophie from Letters from Juliet
3. Maniac Cop from Maniac Cop
4. Finding Nemo
5. Midnight Run
6. Jabbas Palace (but I meant entire ep. 4-6 included to my answer)
7. Wolverines Adamantium Skeleton
8. Lost in Translation
9. The Wild Bunch

Are you doing this one?

Svara

Jessica oktober 25, 2011 kl. 07:00

Maybe. I’m not prone to jumping on every meme that turns up. I think it gets a bit repetitive to read the same thing on too many blogs so mostly I stry to do ”my own thing”. But sometimes I do it it feels fun enough. And this one actually is a good candidate. it would take some pondering though and I’m not sure I’ll have that time available. Busy, busy this week watching as much as I can at Uppsala Shortfilm festival.

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 25, 2011 kl. 07:16

I totally agree it can get repetitive sometimes. Nice with the short film festival. I went there with Dramatiska Institutet a couple of times.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Midnight Run! Great choice! I have seen that movie so many times it’s impossible to count. Absolutely hilarious!

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 25, 2011 kl. 07:17

Yes Midnight Run is a great urban adventure its very well scripted. I’m kind of surprised it hasn’t been remade.

Svara

Dan oktober 25, 2011 kl. 07:55

Midnight Run! Great choice for an adventure!

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 25, 2011 kl. 11:16

It really is!

Svara

Sofia oktober 25, 2011 kl. 08:33

Haha, this was a real hoot! Even though I haven’t seen LiT yet it made me laugh since it perfectly fits in with my perception of the movie.

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 26, 2011 kl. 08:55

OMG you need to see it asap! Its such a crowd divider. It seem like everyone either hates or loves it.

Nice look forward to read it.

It makes me terribly sad that you’d want to change ‘Lost in Translation’. That is one of my favorite movies, no matter how ‘boring’ it might be. I like the way you let the photos speak for themselves with this post. I think I’m the only one who focused on one idea, but come check it out if you have a chance.

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 26, 2011 kl. 08:53

Thanks for stopping by. I’ll check out yours later. Clever idea with a theme!

Svara

Castor oktober 26, 2011 kl. 01:07

Ahaha well glad you didn’t go for some too obvious choices (Amy Adams everywhere!?). Also good on you for changing the Lost in Translation plot, although I would make that even more exciting by having Murray go psycho and kill Scar-Jo and a bunch of civilians before he takes his life.

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 26, 2011 kl. 07:24

Hahaha that would be really depressing but I understand what you are getting at. =)

Svara

Rodney oktober 26, 2011 kl. 01:50

Yeah, I hated Lost In Translation too.

And is that cop the one from Maniac Cop?

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 26, 2011 kl. 08:51

It sure is! I remeber it to be quite the Jason setup in maniac cop. Maybe we can get a remake of that one.

Svara

Novroz oktober 26, 2011 kl. 10:09

You have an interesting way of doing this blogathon Joel….only give pictures…cool!!!
You chose one scary partner…iiii…
I thought Lost In Translation was considered as great movie. I haven’t seen it yet,not my kind of movie

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 26, 2011 kl. 05:08

Its a crowd divider either people hate or love it. I some time feel that only pictures work really good in these blogathons.

Svara

le0pard13 oktober 26, 2011 kl. 01:26

Okay, you’ve convinced me, Joel. Here is my holiday take on your meme. Many thanks.

Nice! I’ll check it out right now!

Svara

filmitch oktober 28, 2011 kl. 03:17

I try to fix my own list, have to think about of some of the challanges. Your list was both clever and fun EVEN if i like LiT but after our track record with Remember the titans F&F and LtK who would be suprised ;)

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 28, 2011 kl. 04:55

Haha what film is LtK?

Svara

Filmitch oktober 28, 2011 kl. 10:07

Lisence to kill ;)

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 28, 2011 kl. 10:22

Ah of course!

Svara

iluvcinema oktober 29, 2011 kl. 04:55

All excellent choices Joel.I particularly like
Midnight Run
Lost in Translation Alteration
and lastly adamantium!

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 29, 2011 kl. 08:37

Yeah who wouldn’t like some adamantium. Eventhough it would hurt as hell when it was inserted. :)

Svara

Anna T oktober 29, 2011 kl. 04:48

Lost in Translation is awesome!!! :P

Svara

Paolo oktober 31, 2011 kl. 05:32

I liked Lost in Translation too but if there was anyone I would kill off in that cast, that would be Scarlett Johannson (sp?).

Svara

Joel Burman oktober 31, 2011 kl. 09:55

I don’t blame you for that but I did find Bill Murray’s character more annoying.
