On this months Filmspanarna blogathon we decided to write about our guilty pleasure movies.
For me there is one that really sticks out and since I do try to watch it once a year I decided this was the time and the place… Check out my experimental review after the jump since its quite heave on images and video embeds.
Also make sure to check out the other Filmspanarna posts here…

Haha, love this innovative post although I’m no Twitter hugger myself
I wholeheartedly agree with you that The Net still is a pretty damn good thriller. And while the younger crowd might not recognize the floppys, imgaine what they’ll think when (if) the watch WarGames…
Hahaha I actually don’t recall that Wargames was as hardware based as this one though. I really need to revisit it. =)
I almost wish I had Twitter
Great choice of movie by the way!
I also wish you had twitter. =)
Isn’t it enough with Instagram?
Nope you need Twitter as well!
You’re so modern! Too modern for my reader (IE) apparently, because I don’t get up any link to your storyfy page… Anyway I read it in my phone. Haven’t seen it so I can’t say much about it. But you’re on the edge when it comes to social media!
You need to get on the ball Jessica primary with the Net then the social media that it evolves around!
Thanks for reading it through an alternate source!
Great movie and a great choice. This one is from a time when Sandra Bullock was so wonderful. What about this double feture: The Net and Speed!
I am no frequent twitter user. Yet.
Thats too much candy fluff at the same time! I’d implode!
I might have seen The Net (almost wrote #thenet
) ages ago but I don’t remember if it’s bad or good. I think I like it since I’m a programmer myself. It’s always fun to tear apart movies with computer themes.
Sofia, Fiffi: Get Twitter, please!
And oh, the floppy disc in the picture is the newer 3 1/2 inch model. I remember the 5 1/4 inch ones, called or that at least I called them ”elephant ears”.
What kind of programmer are you?
I don’t think you need feeling Guilty for enjoying the movie. I thought it was an ok thriller. Though I remember film photographer Roland Sterner almost spitting blood discussing that flick. Couldn’t understand why he was so upset.
I can’t understand that either from plot points and narrative POV I think its pretty good!
Haha, cool way to read about a movie. I haven’t even seen the movie yet – at least what I remember. I have seen WarGames though and that was fun.
”Floppy disk” is a word (two words?) wich brings memories – old memories…
Your text makes me think about when are we going to have running commentaries in twitter form on our blu-rays, as a complement to the traditional director commentaries? I suppose that it’s already existing on streamed movies though…
Yeah I have heard similar things and it has some times been implemented during sports events and even MTV’s the Hills had such a feature a couple of years ago on some of their broadcasts.
How could you put your twitter box in the post? That’s a fun idea to share story.
Well…I like The Net, not my favorite Sandy’s movies but I like it
I didn’t think there was anybody who enjoyed this movie? I must have seen it a good half dozen times in my youth/Sandra Bullock obsessed days – she’s in a bikini, drinking a cocktail on a beach and hacking! To me it was impossibe in 1995, now it’s a possibility (although where I’d find a cocktail at a beach I’m not sure.)
Perhaps I should put it at the top of my quickflix queue?
This was a really interesting (and imaginative) blog-a-thon. Since I’m breaking my habit of lurking on sites, I though I’d nominate you for a Liebster while I’m here. Here’s my post: http://greatmovieproject.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-liebster-award.html
You already know this (and sorry to pile on), but I’ve nominated you and your blogging for a Liebster Award. If you’re up for it (again), great! Otherwise, no worries, Joel. Thanks.
I’m really excited about Total Recall this afternoon.
I love seeing guilty pleasures exposed! haha
