A Good Deal – Blu and DVD Purchases…

by Joel on 23 oktober, 2012

The blog is finally back so you fine folks can stop the e-mails wondering where all the magic is!!! It have been busy times both personal- and work wise but I thought I’d share some nice finds I got in the mail today! Check out my breakdown on the films after the jump!

In total I paid 405 SEK (59 U.S Dollars/36 GBR pounds/56 Australian pounds) not a super bargain but still an ok bargain for my wallet. Here’s the round-up!

  • Veronica Mars Season One – I have finally given up on this phenomenal series ever being released on blu-ray (Neptune would look so good in high def!), hence I’m buying all three seasons on DVD since they finally are on the cheap side! I paid a whopping 19 SEK/2,74 USD/1,71 GBR pound/2,62 AUS Pounds for season one!!!! (I promise I’m not writing out all currencies on the rest of them, just thought this was the  bargain of the bunch)
  • Wonka Gobstopper - Discshop had a campaign about selling cheap U.S candy when buying for a certain amount. I never had Wonka Gobstopper’s when living in the U.S and I actually still don’t know what type of candy it is (might do a separate review if I get bored…  hahah). Check out the link if you want to see what they have in stock.
  • Pirates of Caribbean – the Curse of Black Pearl – This one was actually packed on because I needed a 2nd blu-ray to activate one of the campaigns.
  • Försvunnen aka Gone – In my world this was the second best film coming out from Sweden last year and by finally getting the DVD I’m one step closer to actually finishing the unedited podcast I have on it that has been on my hard drive for a year (long story, sorry Fiffi)! If you find it on VOD make sure to check it out. I believe they have a sales agent working worldwide distributors.
  • The Hunter – Another great film that I stumbled upon in my rental store this spring (2012). Found it for the same price as when I rented it so it was a given buy according to how good it is. I hope Willem Defoe gets a well deserved Best Actor nom come academy award time for it.
  • Cats and Dogs – Very underrated film and always has a close place in my heart since I bagged my first LLS (Last Lamb Standing*) win thanks to it.
  • National Treasure – Boy have I waited for this one to get a decent Blu-ray release on the cheap side. I love National Treasure and one day I’ll write about what makes it so damn good!

Well thats all for now hope to see you sooner than the last time.

* Last LAMB Standing is a trivia game played on the LAMBcast where the panelists compete by naming films from actors/actresses filmographies.

Good to have you back!

Veronica Mars: Just seen some short clips, not interested.
PotC: Pretty good matiné.
Försvunnen: Will see after your buzz.
The Hunter: Ah, I’ve heard quite a lot about this one. Thanks for remanding me.
Cats and Dogs: Never heard of that I know. Was Stellan Skarsgård your second win.
National Treasure: Se PotC.

Thanks! Veronica Mars is in the same mind-set as Buffy the Vampire Slayer without the over natural stuff. Yes Stellan was my 2nd and very well deserved (lång och trogen tjänst tip) win.

Veronica Mars is one of my favorite shows ever! I appreciate that you appreciate it Joel! (Now if only Kristen Bell could get roles half as good in movies like she deserves…)
